United States Closes Its Doors to 19 Countries in New Immigration Crackdown

In a fresh escalation of U.S. immigration policies, Washington has opened an even more hardline chapter by announcing its intention to bar entry to nationals from 19 countries at once — a move that reflects unprecedented rigidity within the Department of Homeland Security.

The decision comes under the direct instruction of President Donald Trump, who is reshaping the contours of the immigration file and paving the way for sweeping changes that could affect legal residency and even the status of Green Card holders.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced its plan to block citizens of 19 countries from entering the United States, marking a new phase in the tightening of immigration restrictions.

The department stated on Friday that U.S. authorities will review all permanent residence permits (Green Cards) issued to citizens of countries listed as “countries of concern,” following a direct directive from President Trump.

These measures come as the U.S. administration intensifies its crackdown on immigration, following the shooting that targeted two National Guard members in Washington last Wednesday.

The list of affected nations includes 19 countries: Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.
