Venezuelan authorities announced on Tuesday that President Nicolás Maduro has approved the resumption of migrant repatriation flights from the United States, just days after U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Caracas had effectively halted the program.
In a statement, the Ministry of Transport said: “The Venezuelan Civil Aviation Authority has received a request from the U.S. government to resume migrant repatriation flights from the United States to Venezuela.”
The ministry added that an Eastern Airlines aircraft arriving from Phoenix has been granted permission to land in Maiquetía, near Caracas.
