The National Water Exploitation and Distribution Company (SONEDE) announced a sudden technical failure affecting one of the desalinated water production lines at the seawater desalination plant in Djerba.
The incident caused disruptions and interruptions in the supply of drinking water in several areas of the island, particularly in the delegations of Houmet Souk and Midoun.
In an official statement, SONEDE confirmed that technical teams were immediately mobilized to carry out the necessary repairs and restore normal operations. The company stated that water supply will resume gradually and under normal conditions.
According to the same source, full restoration of water distribution is expected starting from 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, following the completion of all repair works, with uninterrupted supply around the clock.
