Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall Expected from Tonight Through Thursday, May 15

Tunisia is set to experience a significant weather shift beginning tonight, Wednesday, May 14, 2025, according to a statement issued by the National Institute of Meteorology (INM). Temporarily stormy and locally heavy rainfall is expected to affect western regions first, with accumulations ranging between 30 and 50 millimeters, before gradually extending to eastern areas. Localized hailstorms are also possible.

Unstable weather conditions will persist throughout Thursday, May 15, with stormy rain forecast across the north, center, and southeast of the country. Rainfall will be particularly intense in the Sahel region, Cap Bon, Zaghouan, and Kairouan, where totals may range from 40 to 60 millimeters, and locally reach up to 80 millimeters.

In addition, strong winds are expected, reaching speeds of up to 70 km/h in southern areas, mountainous regions, and during thunderstorm activity. A noticeable drop in temperatures is also forecast, especially in the northern and central parts of the country.

The INM urges the public to remain vigilant, as these weather conditions may lead to localized flooding and disruptions to traffic and daily activities.
