The National Institute of Meteorology has issued a warning as unstable weather conditions continue across Tunisia. Scattered and temporarily stormy showers are expected this afternoon, Wednesday, first over western regions before gradually extending to the eastern parts of the country during the evening and overnight.
Rainfall will be locally heavy, particularly in the northwestern governorates, as well as in Bizerte and Kasserine, with hail showers possible in some areas. Accumulations are expected to range between 20 and 40 mm.
Rain will continue on Thursday 4 December and Friday 5 December, mainly over northern regions, where it may be stormy and intense in Bizerte, Béja, and Jendouba. Authorities warn of the heightened risk of flash floods and rising water levels in low-lying and flood-prone zones.
Starting Thursday, temperatures will drop significantly. Nighttime lows are expected to range between 1°C and 5°C in the western highlands and between 6°C and 10°C elsewhere. Daytime highs will generally vary between 12°C and 17°C, not exceeding 8°C in the western highlands.
The meteorological services advise the public to exercise caution, especially during periods of storm activity, and to avoid riverbeds and flood-risk areas.
