As rainfall is forecast in the north-west of the country, the Tunisian Road Safety Association is calling on motorists to be extra vigilant and to follow a set of recommendations aimed at reducing the risk of traffic accidents.
Call for heightened vigilance during rainy conditions
In a statement to Tunisie Numérique, Mohamed Ali Kassim, member of the national bureau of the Tunisian Road Safety Association, stressed the importance of adopting responsible driving behavior, particularly in regions affected by the expected rainfall in the north-west.
Key road safety recommendations
Mohamed Ali Kassim urged road users to comply with several safety guidelines, including:
Exercising extra caution, especially in areas experiencing rainfall
Checking windscreen wipers and lights before driving
Reducing speed in line with visibility conditions and road surface state
Increasing the safety distance from the vehicle ahead
Using headlights to improve visibility
Avoiding low-lying areas and water puddles
Avoiding sudden maneuvers and harsh braking
What to do in case of poor visibility
In situations of very poor visibility due to heavy rain, the official recommends pulling over in a safe location, away from wadis and flood-prone areas, avoiding stopping near trees, and switching on hazard lights until conditions improve.
