The Tunisian Astronomy Association reported that, according to astronomical calculations, the month of Ramadan 1446 will begin on March 1, 2025 in the countries of the Muslim West and on March 2 in the Muslim East.
This prediction concerns both nations that follow astronomical calculations and those that require visual observation of the lunar crescent.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the association specified that the lunar crescent of the month of Ramadan can be seen using optical instruments in the countries of the Western Muslim world, from the evening of February 28, 2025. Nevertheless, its observation with the naked eye will remain impossible.
Despite these scientific predictions, the Tunisian Astronomy Association recalled that the official proclamation of the beginning of the holy month remains a prerogative of the Mufti of the Tunisian Republic, by the religious traditions of the country.
