Who is Chokri Ben Nessir, new CEO of Tunisian television?

On Thursday, September 19, 2024, President Kaïs Saïed appointed Chokri Ben Nessir as the head of Tunisian television. This is a well-deserved and important appointment for Tunisian national television and the ongoing struggle for national liberation.

 

Omnipresent in the media, Chokri Ben Nessir (61), with his outstanding CV, has never failed in his tasks without his liveliness of mind.

Since his appointment in May 2023, he has succeeded in transforming Snipe into a renowned establishment within the national media landscape, thanks to his comprehensive understanding of the Tunisian media environment.

 

Before that, Chokri Ben Nessir had a course that, in every way, was exemplary and complimentary of journalists, publication directors and managers.

Chokri Ben Nessir (61)  obtained a master’s degree in information and communication from the Press and Information Sciences Institute (IPSI).

Then, he began, in fact, very early on his march with “La Presse de Tunisie”, a French-speaking newspaper anchored in national memory.

Chokri Ben Nessir has also worked and cooperated with several renowned national and international media such as the diplomatic world.

He furthermore founded the economic magazine “La Presse Business” and he was the editor-in-chief of the French-speaking magazine “The Expression”.

From 2018 to 2019, he was designated publication director of Dar Essabah (Arabic-speaking) before being appointed in 2020 editor-in-chief of the newspaper “La Presse”.

A follower of reason, Chokri Ben Nessir never raises his voice, but that does not stop him from pointing the finger, when required and useful, the inconsistencies. At the end, he will certainly be confronted daily with the problems that are those of public enterprises.
