WHO: No proof jabs do not work against Omicron

World Health Organization (WHO) Department of Immunization Director Kate O’Brien stated on Thursday there has been no evidence so far the existing vaccines against COVID-19 are not effective against the new strain of the virus, Omicron.

O’Brien added that health officials will need two to three more weeks to study the ability of treatments to respond to the latest variant. She also commented on Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE’s claims that three doses of their vaccine neutralize Omicron, saying such conclusions are “early” and coming from “small studies.”

Earlier this week, the WHO said the newest evidence indicates Omicron causes “milder disease” than the Delta variant of the virus.
