Defeated in two sets by Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva, ranked 25th in the world (6-2, 6-4), in just 1 hour and 21 minutes of play, Ons Jabeur encountered “difficult moments” (both physically and mentally) this Wednesday as she failed to reach the quarter-finals of the WTA 500 in Adelaide.
Ons showed that her recent setbacks were behind her with a flawless performance since the beginning of the tournament. The Australian circuit continues to suit the Tunisian, who will next compete in the Australian Open next week.
Putintseva will face Russian Diana Shnaider (13th in the WTA rankings), who advanced by default after Czech Marketa Vondrousova withdrew.
