Zitouna Mosque Street (Tunis): An old building partially collapses

A very old building located on Rue Mosquée Zitouna in the Medina of Tunis partially collapsed (covering an area of 15m²) on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, according to Civil Protection this Thursday. The building was uninhabited, and no human losses were reported.

It is worth noting that Tunis has the highest number of buildings at risk of collapse in Tunisia, with about 1,000 buildings identified.

The draft law submitted to the parliament in June 2024 regarding buildings at risk of collapse includes financial penalties ranging from 2,000 dinars to 20,000 dinars for violators.
