2023 Nobel Peace Prize winner Narges Mohammadi on hunger strike

The Nobel Committee announced that it is “deeply concerned about the state of health of Narges Mohammadi, winner of the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize after she was declined medical treatment.” it added that “the requirement that prisoners wear a hijab to be hospitalized is inhumane and morally unacceptable.”

The committee also emphasised that the beginning of a hunger strike by Narges Mohammadi demonstrates the seriousness of the situation. The Norwegian Nobel Committee has urged Iranian authorities to provide Narges Mohammadi and other inmates with any medical assistance they may need.
