2024: Hottest year in Tunisia in 74 years

For the first time, the average annual temperature in Tunisia reached 21.5°C, surpassing the annual average (1991-2020) by 1.6°C. The year 2024 was the hottest on record since 1950, the National Institute of Statistics (INM) announced.

Departures from normal temperatures (minimum, maximum, and average) were higher than normal in all months.

Although rain in 2024 showed a slight improvement compared to previous years, it nevertheless remains below the annual average calculated over the reference period (1991-2020).
