2026 World Cup (Q): Algeria overthrow Uganda and Egypt hang on

After their setback against Guinea (1-2), Algeria bounced back on Monday with a 2-1 win over Uganda in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. The Ugandans opened the scoring with a goal by Mutyaba in the 10th minute. Nevertheless, the Fennecs turned the game around with goals from Aouar in the 46th minute and Benrahma in the 58th minute.

In the standings, Algeria stays at the top of Group G, ahead of Guinea and Mozambique, who both have 6 points.

In the second match of the day, Egypt could only get a draw (1-1) against Guinea-Bissau. It was Mama Baldé (42′) who opened the scoring before Salah’s Egyptian equalizer (70′). The Pharaohs are comfortably seated at the top of Group A.
