An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 hit the eastern region of Chile on Thursday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The tremor was registered at a depth of 56 kilometers at 3:19 am local time. According to the data, the epicenter was located 3 kilometers west of Ovalle, the capital of the Limari Province, and 76 kilometers south-southwest of the port city of Coquimbo.
