6.6-magnitude quake strikes near New Zealand

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 struck sotuh of New Zealand’s Kermadec Islands, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said on Friday.

The quake’s epicenter was registered about 705 kilometers northeast of the city of Tauranga on New Zealand’s North Island, at a depth of 89.8 kilometers. No tsunami warning has been issued following the tremor.
