An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 struck off the coast of California on Thursday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The quake’s epicenter was registered 99 kilometers southeast of the city of Ferndale in northern California, at a depth of 10 kilometers. X users reported feeling the tremor, but so far, there have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties. A tsunami warning was issued for parts of California, including the San Francisco Bay, and parts of Oregon.
The quake was followed by a 5.8-magnitude earthquake that struck near Sacramento.
