CAF issued a series of sanctions against 3 selections and 2 players. Ivory Coast, Senegal (each US$5,000) and Mali (US$10,000), all parties in the competition, were impacted by the disciplinary measures.
In addition, 2 players were consequently targeted by the sanctions, namely the Senegalese international, Krépin Diatta, and the captain of the Malian team, Hamari Traoré, who received suspensions of 4 matches, including 2 suspended, for behaviour deemed unfair play during the tournament.
In the case of Krépin Diatta, he is also subject to a one-year suspension for having tainted the image of CAF during the round of 16 match between Senegal and Ivory Coast, in addition to a fine of 10,000 US dollars.
