AFCON 2024 (F): in presence of Tunisia, tournament is threatened!

According to Nigerian BBC journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, the 1st edition of the 2024 women’s AFCON in Morocco will not take place.

Until now, no specific date had been revealed for the competition, Obayiuwana posted a tweet (one of the presidents of a federation from another region. Rumours at CAF headquarters and in Morocco show that the women’s AFCON will not take place this year. Well-informed sources at CAF headquarters in Cairo tell me that these speculations are true.

He added that he had “asked a spokesperson for the Royal Moroccan Football Federation to talk on this subject. I have not yet received a response concerning Morocco’s official position on the issue.”

As a reminder, Tunisia is among the 12 qualified selections, namely South Africa, Algeria, DR Congo, Botswana, Ghana, Tanzania, Senegal, Zambia, Nigeria, and Mali, as well as the host nation, Morocco.

What is certain is that this AFCON will not be able to take place during the period between July 24 and August 10, 2024, these dates being reserved for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and everyone is undoubtedly eager to do battle, but it is you may have to wait beyond the current calendar year.
