The stunning display of 8 stars (5 for Cameroon and 3 for Nigeria) between 2 teams striving for the title behind the favourites Morocco and Senegal, played at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny stadium (45,000 seats), in Abidjan saw Nigeria qualifying for the quarter-finals by defeating Cameroon (2-0).
This jaw-dropper, led by Moroccan referee Redouane Jiyed, is revenge for the Cameroonian coronation in the final of the 22nd edition (2000) in Lagos, which stays a source of pain for many Super Eagles supporters. The latter overpowered the Indomitable Lions thanks to their offensive strike force, embodied by Victor Osimhen and Atalanta striker Ademola Lookman who scored the double of victory (36′ – see video / 90′ – video).
Even if it has not yet impressed but is undefeated in the competition, Nigeria will cross swords in the quarter-finals against Angola, dominating Namibia (3-0) earlier in the evening (click here). A nice game between 2 selections which are among the outsiders of this competition, is scheduled for Friday, February 2 at 5:00 p.m. (Tunisian time).
