AFCON 2024: Tunisia and Algeria will file appeals!

TN Sport has learned that the FTF will protest to CAF concerning its discontent with the performance of Ghanaian referee Daniel Nii Laryea who officiated Tunisia-Mali.

Federal member Houcine Jenayah confirmed at the end of the Tunisia – Mali match, that “The penalty not whistled following a foul on Youssef Msakni in the area could have given another turn to the match and we do not know why the director of the match offered no slow-motion shots. Even the beIN Sports channel had difficulty confirming the action (…) How could this have escaped the referee trio on the pitch and the two VAR referees”.

This is the same case for the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), which filed an official complaint, following an incident implicating the VAR referee, the Gabonese Atcho Pierre Ghislain.

“The VAR didn’t operate. All the contentious situations were transmitted to the secretary general of the African Confederation (CAF) Véron Monsengo-Omba who was surprised,” explained the president of the FAF, Walid Sadi.

Having provided proof, including photos and videos, to support their claims, will the two bodies be able to obtain anything? To be continued…
