In October 18th, 2014: in the theater of Sidi Mansour, city in the suburb of Sfax, the second city of the country, more than 10 000 partisans of Ennahdha gathered for a big meeting of the Islamist party. Under a blazing sun, Rached Ghannouchi, president of the party, orchestrates an electoral meeting with presentations of both lists Ennahdha (Sfax1 and 2), talk about candidates and final speech of Ghannouchi. Ennahdha recollected that it will boycott the legislative elections of December 17, 2022, qualifying the electoral meeting as a “masquerade”.
The party believed that the amendment of the electoral law and the extension of the deadlines for submitting applications were made due to the low participation rate pointing out that several electoral districts stay without candidates.
On the other hand, Ennahdha considered that the President of the Republic Kais Saïed hampered the movement of magistrates by exploiting the Ministry of Justice.
It also condemned the media blackout which accompanied the government’s agreement with the IMF and calls for lifting the veil on its content.
