Aircraft carrying Malawi’s vice-president goes missing

A military plane that carried Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Chilima and nine other officials went off the radar, Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera’s office said in a statement.

The plane took off from the capital Lilongwe but did not land at Mzuzu International Airport after about 45 minutes, as scheduled.

“All efforts to make contact with the aircraft since it went off radar have failed thus far,” the statement read. Additionally, the president’s office stated that a search is underway.
