Affected by the coronavirus, Algerian Lakhdar Bouregaâ, a veteran of the War of Independence against France and figure of the popular uprising of Hirak, died on Wednesday, at the age of 87.
Bouregaâ, a highly respected veteran of the War of Independence against France and a figure in the popular uprising of the “Hirak”, has died at the age of 87, his son announced on Wednesday (November 4th) on his Facebook page. “Lakhdar Bouregaâ is under the protection of Allah”, soberly wrote Hani Bouregaâ.
His family had announced on October 21 that he had the coronavirus. His wife was also hospitalized. He will be buried Thursday in the square of the martyrs of the Algerian Revolution at the El Alia cemetery in Algiers.
