Algeria: Rain and snow block roads and disrupt tram traffic

Algeria experienced considerable rainfall and snow, blocking certain roads and disrupting tram traffic in the capital.

The states of Sétif and Batna in the east of the country, and Tizi Ouzou and Bouira in the center, in addition to Médéa and Tissemsilt, encountered significant snowfall. The gendarmerie command reported that traffic between the states of Tizi Ouzou and Bouira was extremely slow, and called on road users to exercise caution.

This precipitation follows a severe heatwave which lasted until the start of last November, and which prompted the Ministry of Religious Affairs to call for prayers for rain in recent days.
