Berbers in North Africa are wecloming the Amazigh New Year, with celebrations showcasing traditional food, music and dance organised throughout the region.
Sunday marks the first day of the year 2970 for North Africa’s original inhabitants, who are also identified as Amazigh.
The Berber calendar is an agrarian system, based around the seasons and agricultural work, that was inspired by the Julian calendar.
