The COVID-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca is safe and produces an immune response in all adults, according to preparatory outcomes from a phase two trial.
The results declared in the Lancet medical journal on Thursday confirmed that the vaccine applicant was tested on 560 healthy adults and provoked a similar immune response among those aged between 18 and 55 and those over 56-years-old.
“We hope that this means our vaccine will help to protect some of the most vulnerable people in society, but further research will be needed before we can be sure,” Dr. Maheshi Ramasamy, a co-author of the study at the University of Oxford, said.
