At least 27 dead in Philippines floods

At least 27 people have been killed in floods in the Philippines since the start of 2023, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. In addition, around 1.8 million people have been affected by the heavy rains and floods in the three most impacted regions.

Local media reported that some 102,500 people have been forced out of their homes and sought shelter in 378 evacuation centres. At least five municipalities declared a state of calamity over the three last weeks.
