United States President Joe Biden claimed on Thursday that rising energy prices caused by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “aggressive actions” in Ukraine largely contributed to the latest surge in US inflation.
Commenting on today’s report which showed US inflation stood at a record-high of 7.9% in February, Biden stated that “Americans’ budgets are being stretched by price increases and families are starting to feel the impact of Putin’s price hike” but insisted that he was always aware there would be “costs at home” as a result of “crippling sanctions” against Russia. Still, he insisted the costs for Putin and his “cronies” are “far more devastating” than those Americans are facing.
