Brazil’s Goias state recorded the country’s first Omicron-related fatality on Thursday in the city of Aparecida de Goiania, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The fully-vaccinated man was admitted to a local hospital after suffering from high blood pressure and a “chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.” The 68-year-old reportedly came in contact with a person positive for the COVID-19 prior to being admitted.
