Morocco’s former Prime Minister Abderrahmane Youssoufi has passed away aged 96 at a Casablanca hospital at the age of 96 after succumbing to a long illness.
Youssoufi was the previous leader of the National Union of Popular forces (USFP) and human rights lawyer, he had directed the Moroccan government between 1998 and 2002.
After the passing of King Hassan II on July 23, 1999, King Mohammed VI retained Youssoufi at the head of the government. He withdrew from politics in 2003.
