Breaking news:Major quake in Haiti kills at least 227

An earthquake reduced buildings to rubble and generated several fatalities in southwestern Haiti on Saturday, sending shock waves across the Caribbean, where people escaped their homes for fear they might collapse.

At least 227 people have died in the earthquake, according to Haiti’s Civil Protection Unit.
The number is likely to grow more.
