Kenya, Niger and Nigeria will receive over 1.3 million doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from Canada via the COVAX vaccine-sharing facility, according to the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI).
The first shipments are due to be received on Thursday. COVAX, which is backed by the World Health Organisation and GAVI, has set a goal of securing 2 billion vaccine doses for lower-income countries by the end of 2021.
