The cemeteries where many of our compatriots rest, are part of our funerary heritage. If not sustained, this heritage quickly worsens with time, pollution and bad weather.
However, a state of abandonment is observed in the majority of cemeteries in the country. In several regions, our cemeteries are targeted by foolish individuals, delinquents and stray dogs.
On the environmental side, our cemeteries are not in good condition, especially with the problem of vegetation growing in the cemetery and the waste thrown by visitors. This is why maintenance of cemeteries is vital.
The launch on May 1 by the Municipality of Tunis of a campaign to clean the Djellaz cemetery to clean it up is a fully justified initiative and should be welcomed.
