Chaâl Agricultural Complex Case: Release Refused for Abdelaziz Makhloufi and Three Other Officials

The chamber of indictment specialising in financial corruption cases at the Tunis Court of Appeal denied yesterday the requests for release submitted on behalf of:

  • Abdelaziz Makhloufi, president of the Club Sportif Sfaxien association,

  • Sami Chaâbouni, director of the Chaâl agricultural complex,

  • Salem Ben Salem, head of the sales and purchasing department,

  • and Mohsen Essari, administrative and financial manager.

This decision comes as part of the continuing investigation into the Chaâl agricultural complex, located in the Sfax governorate, which drew public attention following a surprise visit by President Kaïs Saïed on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. During this visit, the head of state raised suspicions of financial and administrative corruption.

It is worth noting that Abdelaziz Makhloufi was arrested on November 2, 2024, for questioning in connection with this case.
