China condemns US’ move to blacklist 37 firms

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce condemned on Friday the United States’ decision to add 37 Chinese businesses to a trade restrictions list over security concerns.

Beijing “firmly opposes this,” a spokesperson for the ministry stated during a press conference, insisting that for a long time, Washington “has overextended the concept of national security,” abusing export control measures. The spokesperson further noted that the move is “seriously damaging the legitimate rights and interests of companies” and is affecting the stability of global industrial and supply chains.

China called on the US to immediately halt its “wrong practices,” adding that it will take necessary steps to “safeguard its rights.”
