The Ministry of Education reported this Wednesday the exceptional suspension of courses in all primary schools, colleges and public high schools in Tunisia on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
This decision comes within the framework of preparations for the presidential election, planned for Sunday, October 6.
The ministry clarified that this suspension of the courses seeks to guarantee the best conditions for the progress of the electoral ballot. Many schools will be used as voting centres during the October 6 elections.
The suspension of educational activities will prepare the premises and secure a framework conducive to the smooth running of this democratic process.
The Ministry of Education stated that courses will normally resume on Monday, October 7, according to the usual jobs of students and educational staff. This exceptional measure is part of efforts to guarantee an effective and organized election while minimizing the impact on the school calendar.
This gesture shows the importance given to the presidential election, and the commitment of the educational authorities to ensure the smooth running of this major event in the country’s political life.
