Dean of Veterinarians: Amount Spent by Ministry of Health on Rabies Vaccination This Year Is Frightening” [Video]

In 2022, the amount spent by the Ministry of Health on vaccinating people to protect them from rabies was 6 million dinars, and in 2023, this amount grew to 7 million dinars. This is where our continuous calls for the reform of the health system come from, Ahmed Rajab, the Dean of Veterinarians told Tunisie Numérique.

Rajab added that due to the crisis in the health system and the recording of 9 deaths from rabies, the Ministry has spent up to 1 billion dinars so far on vaccinating humans.

The same source stressed that all studies have shown that prevention can save such amounts, with an estimated value of 20 to 30 times the current expenditure, urging the need to work on avoiding such notable losses through preventive measures.
