Dean of Veterinarians: “Vaccination is only way to prevent rabies” [Video]

Speaking with Tunisie Numérqieu, Dean of Veterinarians, Ahmed Ragab, confirmed today, Friday, August 16, 2024, that human health is essentially related to animal health, which is recognized by the World Health Organization, underscoring that Tunisian law stipulates that resistance to animal diseases is mandatory.

The same source noted that the Deanship of Veterinarians had issued a warning regarding rabies last year and called for intensified efforts to fight it. They highlighted that the most effective strategies for rabies prevention primarily involve vaccinating animals.

Our speaker also remarked that as of the current month in 2024, over one and a half times more cases of rabies have been registered than were reported throughout the previous year. He pointed out that if the health directive approved in 2005 had been preserved and enforced, it might have been possible to achieve zero cases of rabies by 2009 when the situation reached what he described as a catastrophic level.
