The deadly 6.1-magnitude earthquake that struck China’s Gansu and Qinghai provinces on December 18 claimed 148 lives in total so far, Chinese media outlets reported citing local authorities on Friday.
Out of the 148 victims, 117 were from Gansu and 31 were from Qinghai. According to the state broadcaster CCTV, over 139,000 people have been put in emergency shelters across the area, with the search for those potentially trapped under the rubble continuing.
