Death toll from winter storm increases to 34 in US

The death toll from the winter storm hitting the United States has increased to at least 34 people, and more are expected, AP reported Monday.

The storm is expected to trap some residents in their homes with large accumulations of snow, knocking out power to tens of thousands of homes and businesses. According to flight tracking website FlightAware, 2,498 flights to, from, or within the US were cancelled on Christmas Day, while another 6,061 were delayed.
