The death toll in the deadly shooting in central Nigeria’s state of Benue has reportedly risen to 56, according to the AFP, citing Solomon Iorpev, the governor’s media adviser.
The attack was conducted by armed herders, the Nigerian government blamed local ethnic and religious tensions in the region.
This week, 50 people were killed in an attack by two armed gunmen in Nigeria’s state of Plato, the Daily Post reported.
