Death toll of Myanmar quake crosses 3,000

Myanmar that fatalities from the catastrophic earthquake have risen above 3,000, while 341 remain missing and 4,715 have sustained injuries. Forecasts of unseasonal rain pose fresh challenges for emergency teams attempting to rescue people in the conflict-torn nation.

Further, the military and insurgents agreed to pause fighting for rescue efforts. The powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Friday, marking one of the region’s most intense in 100 years, impacted an area with 28 million residents, destroying buildings, devastating communities and leaving countless without food, water and shelter.
