Death toll over 20,000 in Turkey, Syria quake

The disastrous earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria this week has claimed more than 20,000 lives, while over 75,500 people have been wounded, according to the latest statements made by officials of both countries on Thursday.

Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority confirmed 17,134 deaths and 70,347 injuries. Syrian Health ministry reported 1,347 people have been killed and 2,295 wounded, while the first responders the White Helmets recorded more than 1,970 casualties and 2,950 citizens hurt in the opposition-held regions of the country.
