Serbian Novak Djokovic beat former world number one Rafael Nadal in the second round of the 2024 Paris Olympics, 6-1, 6-4. It was the 60th match between the two arch-rivals, with Djokovic extending his head-to-head lead to 31-29 amid rumors that Nadal might retire after the Games.
Djokovic took the first set rather easily, dominating the play against Nadal who did not have a single break point, whereas the Serbian converted two. The Spanish player put up more resistance in the second set coming back from a break down but could not win the game on his service on four all. Djokovic concluded the match by winning the game on his serve, to score his first win over Nadal at the Olympics.
