Dutch PM announces new partial lockdown

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced on Tuesday the Netherlands will enter a new partial lockdown starting tomorrow as the country grapples with a rapid surge in coronavirus infections.

The new round of measures designed to stop the spread of COVID-19 includes limiting the size of social gatherings and a ban on the sale of alcohol in the evening. Moreover, coffee shops, bars and restaurants will be closed during the next four weeks. Rutte also encouraged people to work from home and use public transportation only for “vital professions.”
