Egypt-27 people injured after metal stage collapses at basketball game

At least 27 people were wounded after a metal stage collapsed in the stands of a multi-purpose arena on the outskirts of the Egyptian capital during a basketball game between the super Cup game between Ahly and Ittihad of Alexandria.

The Egyptian health ministry stated 21 ambulances were dispatched to the Hassan Mostafa Sports Hall in Cairo’s 6th of October district, where the game took place.

“The stage collapsed because of a crowd rush,” Mohamed Fawzi, a sports ministry spokesman, told Sada El-Balad television channel.
