Egypt emphasizes importance of supporting Palestinians without displacing them from Gaza.

On Wednesday, Egypt reaffirmed the need to deliver humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip and progress with early recovery projects, all while ensuring that Palestinians do not leave Gaza.

Egyptian Foreign Minister and Immigration Minister, Badr Abdel-Aty, voiced full support for the Palestinian government and its reform plans. He highlighted the importance of politically and economically empowering the Palestinian Authority to resume its duties in Gaza, as it is part of the occupied Palestinian territories.

According to Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Tamim Khalaf, these statements were made during Abdel-Aty’s meeting with Palestinian Foreign Minister Mohammad Mustafa. Abdel-Aty discussed Egypt’s efforts to guarantee the sustainability of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the implementation of its provisions in three phases.

Concerning Gaza’s humanitarian situation, both sides underscored the importance of advancing early recovery projects, debris removal, and the swift delivery of humanitarian aid, all while keeping Palestinians in Gaza, as they are deeply committed to staying on their land.

The Palestinian Foreign Minister presented a comprehensive plan for early recovery and debris removal in cooperation with international organizations, which paves the way for the reconstruction phase and the return of normalcy, a point that was mutually agreed upon.

Abdel-Aty reaffirmed Egypt’s support for the Palestinian people’s legitimate and inalienable rights, stressing the need for a lasting and fair political solution to the Palestinian issue through a two-state solution, with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital. This, he added, is essential to prevent the recurrence of violence in the future.
