Egypt’s cabinet resigns, prime minister reappointed to form new government

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly submitted his government’s resignation on Monday, according to the presidency.

President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi accepted the resignation and tasked Madbouly, who has been prime minister since 2018, with forming a new government “of ministers with distinguished competencies, experience, and capabilities,” it added in a statement.

Sisi requested the new government to achieve several goals, including maintaining national security, economic reform, encouraging private sector growth, and making efforts to reduce price increases and inflation and control markets, the statement said.
