On Friday, October 18, 2024, eight employees of Tunisair Ground Services were apprehended by agents of the Ariana North Criminal Brigade.
The arrests followed complaints filed by the airline Tunisair, which accused the workers of falsifying university degrees and using fake documents to secure their positions, according to a security source cited by Mosaique FM.
The suspects are believed to have presented fraudulent academic certificates to obtain jobs within the company, a serious transgression under Tunisian law. The employees are currently in pretrial detention as investigations continue to uncover the full scope of the fraud.
In response, Tunisair management has decided to enforce strict measures to ensure the transparency and legitimacy of staff qualifications. This comes at a time when the national airline is already grappling with financial and organizational challenges.
This case underscores concerns about the integrity of recruitment processes in public companies and raises broader questions about the verification of qualifications in large Tunisian organizations.
